An agreement has been reached between Volvo Bus Corporation and Renault Trucks covering the sale of Volvo buses by Renault Trucks in France.

As of October 1, Volvo Mobility Systems is incorporated within Volvo Buses.

Again in 2002, Volvo Buses was the distinct market leader in Sweden and increased its market share from 52.4% to 57.1% in the over-12-ton total weight class. In addition, Volvo was the largest bus brand in the Nordic region, in which the company increased its market share from 47% to 52.7%.

Volvo Bus Corporation’s Joint Venture for city buses in China - Shanghai Sunwin Bus Corporation - marked a major breakthrough today with the signing an order for 500 Volvo city buses with one of the leading Shanghai Operators, the Shanghai Ba-shi (Group) Industrial Co.Ltd. The buses will be delivered over the next 12 months. The order is valued at approximately SEK 500 M. The agreement includes an option an additional 500 Volvo buses, with deliveries scheduled during the second half of 2003 and 2004.

Volvo Buses de Mexico has received an order for 340 first-class and luxury coaches in Mexico from one of the leading operators of intercity traffic- the ADO Group. The new deal is a confirmation of Volvo as one of the selected suppliers to ADO as they again chose Volvo for their premium services. The value of the order amounts to approximately USD 70 millions and the deliveries will take place during a fourteen-months period, beginning in October 2002. The majority of coaches are Volvo 9700, both two and three axles, based on the TX platform, and some Volvo three-axle Volvo 7550s.

Volvo Buses has been chosen as preferred supplier to two of the leading bus operator groups - the Flecha Amarilla and Toluca Groups - in Mexico. The new contract runs for three years with about 600 buses to be delivered per year. The contract includes buses and coaches for various applications from regular services up to luxury coaches, as well as transit buses. This agreement follows the earlier order for 900 units of Volvo 7550, whereof the majority was delivered in 2000 and 2001.

At the Busworld bus show, which recently came to an end in Shanghai, Volvo Buses captured the "Coach of the Year 2002" and "Bus of the Year 2002" awards. The prize-winning coach was a Volvo B10 M with a body

Volvo Truck & Bus Thailand Co., Ltd. has through it’s dealer Cherdchai Motor Sales delivered 107 units of B12 inter-city and coach buses to The Transport Company Ltd. in Bangkok, Thailand. Bodybuilding on these vehicles has been done by Cherdchai Industries in Nakorn Ratasima, Thailand. The delivery marks an important modernisation of the Transport Company’s fleet of buses.

Volvo Buses Germany has received an order for 37 city buses from Berlin’s local bus operator, Berliner Verkehrsgesellschaft (BVG).

Volvo Bus South Africa Pty has begun the delivery of 200 city buses to Metrobus in Johannesburg, South Africa. The delivery comprises 150 B 7 TL double-decker buses and 50 standard B 7 R buses. Bodybuilding on these vehicles has been done by Marcopolo S.A. in Brazil and South Africa.
