Driveline
The driveline with Volvo D9B is available with either 260 or 310 hp and offers high torque across a broad rev range. In practice this means immediate response to the throttle,fuel-optimised acceleration and excellent low-rev pulling power.

Low fuel consumption is not just a matter of engine characteristics, it also requires a well-matched driveline. Both engine variants are available with the very latest generation of automatic transmissions featuring a choice of 4 or 6 gears and an integrated retarder. The rear axle is of drop-centre type and is available with a wide selection of ratios.

Brakes
The Volvo B9L family is equipped with Volvo’s electronically controlled EBS braking system, which offers a range of safety and comfort-enhancing features. The electronic system permits a very short stopping distance and the brake discs are of a particularly temperature-resistant design.

Front suspension
The Volvo B9L features conventional lightweight front suspension, designed for minimal tyre wear. All-round air suspension is standard, available with kneeling function.

Driver’s environment
The driver’s environment in the Volvo B9L is ergonomically designed

and features a grip-friendly steering wheel and conveniently positioned controls and instruments.

The instrument panel has large, clear instruments and a separate information display offering driver information. Logically grouped switches beside the steering wheel accompany the wheel when it is adjusted in order to always provide a perfect, individually adjusted seating position. All placed so that the driver is able to concentrate fully on the task.

Quick passenger through-flow
Low floor throughout the bus permits fast passenger movement.

Trouble-free maintenance
The B9L is designed for long service intervals and swift and simple maintenance. Oil change intervals are extended and many critical components are maintenance-free. In addition, Volvo’s multiplexed electronics system functions as a preventive maintenance and diagnostics tool.
