Volvo 9700 in US & Canada

For Volvo Buses the high point of 2009 will surely be the North American introduction of the Volvo 9700 coach, adapted for the Canadian and U.S. markets and safety requirements. This entirely new coach will be distributed by Prevost's Coach Sales Force and supported by tsĀ service network. "The Volvo 9700 offers outstanding Volvo safety features, a striking modern design, and a superb driver environment," said Dann Wiltgen, Vice President of sales.

The Volvo 9700 is hailed as one of the safest buses on the market. With high-effficiency brakes, an electronic stability program, safety-tested body, and Volvo's unique driver impact
protection, it represents the culmination of nearly 80 years of safety-oriented work. For instance, Volvo is the first manufacturer
to provide unique Front Impact Protection ("FIP") andĀ Knee Impact Protection for drivers, to absorb and divert impact forces in the event of a frontal collision, and it's the first coach to be equipped with a Front Underrun Protection
System (FUPS) that benefits automobile passengers in the event of a bus-car frontal collision.
The 9700 also features Volvo disc brakes with EBS (Electronic Brake System) for excellent braking performance and Hill Start Aid which prevents bus from rolling backwards when starting on a hill.

Wheel brakes are supplemented by Volvo's powerful engine brake VEB (Volvo Engine Brake) and the Brake Blending function lets auxiliary brakes handle as much of the load as
possible before wheel brakes activate. The Volvo 9700 also comes with ESP (Electronic Stability Program) to reduce the risk of rollovers or skids in normal or slippery road conditions.
