On February 6, the mayor of Mexico City, Miguel Angel Mancera, held the delivery event for the new 14 units Volvo 7300 bi-articulated to serve in line 1 of Metrobús, the public transit system in Mexico City.
The increasing demand on line 1, which runs along one of the most important avenues in Mexico City, Insurgentes, is the main reason for the new units being integrated into the system. So far, occupancy has been recorded up to 95% in this line.
At a press conference, Miguel Ángel Mancera, said that this investment "is a way to show confidence to the development and progress of the city, that's why we thank each and every one of the companies that are represented and are accompanying this process.”
Corporate investors for the acquisition of the 14 units are RECSA, Vanguardia and Cambio.
Guillermo Calderón, General Director of Metrobús, added that ”the 14 buses delivered today alleviate peaking high saturation and allow better service.”
The new fleet included, Line 1 will have in operation 27 Volvo 7300 bi-articulated buses of 25 meters long and capacity for 240 passengers in each vehicle.
