Volvo Buses has secured an order for 323 coaches in Mexico. Most of these will be delivered in 2010.

Volvo Buses has been named the winner of the Swedish Traffic Safety Award 2010. The company was awarded the prize for its work on an alcolock specially adapted for buses.

The operator company Nettbuss has ordered 12 hybrid buses from Volvo Buses for service in Norway, thereby becoming the first company in the Nordic region to implement the hybrid technology commercially. Hybrid buses reduce fuel consumption by as much as 30%.

Volvo Buses has recently secured several significant orders in the Nordic countries. These involve a total of about 260 buses to be delivered in 2010.

Volvo’s hybrid bus is one of the environmental buses that will be servicing the special COP15 route during the climate conference in Copenhagen. This hybrid bus reduces carbon emissions by up to 30%.

The first hybrid bus from Volvo is now in commercial operation. Bus operator Sales-Lentz in Luxembourg has taken delivery of its first Volvo 7700 Hybrid.

Volvo Buses has received an order for 145 bus chassis for Jamaica. The buses will be used as part of the Jamaican government’s initiative to improve the urban transport system in Kingston.

Volvo Buses reports an increase in deliveries during the third quarter. 2,351 buses were delivered, which was an increase of 11% compared with the same quarter in the preceding year. The operating income was however negative.

Volvo Buses is now launching a 13-liter engine for the Volvo 9700 and Volvo 9900 models. The new engine is stronger but also more fuel-efficient than its predecessor.

Volvo Buses has received an order for 100 bi-articulated Volvo B9SALF buses to Sao Paulo in Brazil and an order for a further 84 articulated buses for the BRT system in Bogota, Colombia. Volvo will thus strengthen its position as the leading supplier of buses for these smart transport systems.
