Events service now available for new bus models

The first version of the connected service Events is being launched in Volvo Connect for vehicles on our new electric architecture. As a fleet owner, you can now use the Events service for all bus models in the same fleet.

vents is a service that helps fleet owners track where and when specific actions occur on buses in their fleet. The service will send notifications when criteria is met, such as ignition on, driving, or a driver logging in or out. The vehicle will also report its status when the event occurs - fuel level, position, odometer value, speed and more.
 

In Volvo Connect, you can track this data in real-time on a map and follow up historical Events and routes through reports.
 

Events available in the first release are:

  • Ignition On
  • Ignition Off
  • Driving
  • Stop
  • Login
  • Logout

 

Parameters available in the first release are:

  • Driver ID
  • Position
  • Speed
  • Battery voltage
  • Engine coolant temperature
  • Odometer
  • Fuel level


More events and parameters will be added during 2025 and the future as the service evolves over time.
 

What are the benefits of the Event service? 

  • Possibility for operators to overview vehicle information by feedback to the offboard application.
  • Overview of where all vehicles are located at a specific moment, which actions took place enroute, also where the vehicle has been historically.
  • Real time updated locations of all buses.
  • Possibility to analyse data bus by bus, driver by driver or a total fleet.
  • Possibility to make comparisons based on 3 months of historical data.
  • Possibility to create custom reports with any value from the mapped parameters.
     

Restrictions

  • This version of Events is available for vehicles with Volvo Buses latest electric architecture.
  • Requires an active Volvo Connect subscription for Events.
  • TGW3 has to be installed as well as the latest Volvo Buses chassis software.
