Strong demand for Volvo’s new long-distance buses

Volvo’s new coaches for tourist and line-haul operations, which were introduced in Europe in May, have received a very enthusiastic market welcome. Since the start of sales nearly 150 new Volvo 9700 and Volvo 9900 coaches have been sold to customers around Europe.

“We’re very proud of our new, flexible and competitive range of premium products, which have safety, comfort and environmental properties of absolute world class. Their strong sales performance is confirmation that customers truly appreciate the result of our efforts,” says Niklas Orre, Vice President Retail Segment Volvo Buses.

The largest single order so far encompasses 40 buses for Lithuania. Sales also include orders in countries such as Norway (+23 units), Austria (+11 units) and France (+20 units). All the ordered vehicles will be delivered in 2019.

The new range includes two models, the high-spec Volvo 9900 and the flexible Volvo 9700, along with a wide range of equipment and service packages, making it possible to offer customer-tailored solutions to suit individual needs and wishes.

This autumn the new Volvo coaches, which were recently unveiled to the public at the IAA transport fair in Hannover, have also been presented at IBE in Rimini, Autocar Expo in Lyon and Persontrafik in Stockholm. This week they are shown at Eurobus in Birmingham.

In September Volvo Buses received the coveted Sustainable Bus Award 2019 for the new Volvo 9900.
