Volvo Bus Australia makes new appointments to support electromobility projects

Firmly placing themselves as the Electromobility Experts within the Australian bus & coach market, Volvo Bus Australia (VBA) has made changes to its electromobility team, the company recently announced. Dean Moule has been promoted to the newly created role of Electromobility Product Director, Asia Pacific Region (APAC), and Mark Fryer consequently promoted to the role of National Sales Engineering & Bodybuild Manager, Volvo Bus Australia – effective July 2021.

As electric buses continue to gain momentum in Australia, Volvo Bus is responding to the changing industry landscape and demands for cleaner and more efficient transport solutions by doubling down on their focus to provide greener, safer and more reliable technology – and the new electromobility team appointments will support this goal.

With 35 years’ experience in the Automotive Industry and having spent the past 12 years as the Sales Engineering & Bodybuild Manager at Volvo Bus Australia, Moule brings with him a wealth of knowledge and insight to his newly created position of Electromobility Product Director, APAC.

In addition to having a strong background in automotive engineering and a long history within the bus and coach industry, Moule has extensive experience working within the electromobility space. He was involved in VBA’s first electromobility initiative with its hybrid project, developing & introducing the B5L S-Charge chassis to the Australian market a decade ago and more recently, has been the electromobility project lead on the development of Volvo’s BZL Electric chassis (due to be launched later in 2021).

With Moule stepping into his new position and extending his expertise across a wider range of electromobility functions for Volvo Bus Asia Pacific, Mark Fryer will be taking his place as Volvo Bus Australia’s National Sales Engineering & Bodybuild Manager.

With more than 20 years’ experience with electrical systems and having worked for Volgren for the past 15 years prior to joining VBA as Technical and Bodybuild Support Manager in early 2020, Fryer has an exceptional understanding of the industry, as well as of high-voltage technology.

Having both Moule and Fryer rising to new challenges at Volvo Bus is a testament not only to VBA’s commitment to providing the best in the electromobility space, but also to the development of its people.

“We are thrilled to appoint Dean and Mark to new positions in our electromobility team,” says Mitch Peden, General Manager Volvo Bus Australia.

“The steps we have taken on our electromobility journey have been possible with the guidance of our electromobility team. From the release of the B5L S-Charge in 2013, to now preparing to launch our BZL Electric chassis later this year, demonstrates the great contributions of our electromobility experts. Dean and Mark’s new appointments will be instrumental to reinforcing VBA’s focus on cleaner, safer and more reliable electric systems, and will allow us to remain agile as we continue our electromobility journey.”
