Nick Page, Managing Director for Volvo Bus UK & Ireland, said: “This year many of the headlines have been taken up by our Electromobility bus range, in particular the arrival in the UK of the first 7900e right hand drive fully electric single deck bus, which is currently on a nationwide demonstration tour. So, for CBUK we have decided to focus on our excellent coach chassis range with some fantastic bodywork options for operators.
“We’re particularly pleased to have the bespoke bodyworked B11R Plaxton Elite-I for Acklam’s Coaches featured on our stand. This demonstrates how with planning and design expertise, it is possible to deliver a state-of-the-art specialist vehicle for a range of luxury and VIP services. It also highlights our long and deep relationship with Plaxtons, which now spans 35 years.”
Volvo’s B11R is very much a flagship vehicle at the heart of the coach range. It is available with the integral Volvo 9700 bodywork, Jonckheere JHV2, Sunsundegui SC7, Plaxton Elite, Panther or as featured on the Volvo stand at CBUK, with the Elite-I.
The company believes the the B11R chassis makes it the ‘backbone’ of any UK coach business, as its credentials mean it is very well placed to operate as a premium or express coach, for private hire or school contracts. Its fuel efficient Euro 6 engine has proved its paces with many operators across the country in reducing operational costs, while giving long life and a superior ride and comfort for passengers.
