Quality brings Ardcavan back to Volvo

One of Ireland’s top operators has just returned to Volvo after a number of years, having been attracted by excellent reports of the B12B.

Ardcavan Tours of Co Wexford have just taken delivery of a Volvo B12B featuring Jonckheere bodywork. The company, which prides itself on the high standards of its fleet, had not bought Volvo for a few years.

“Rather than sticking to any one brand we simply look for what we believe to be the best on the market at any one time,” explained Managing Director, Philip O’Leary. “We had heard great reports of the B12B from colleagues in the industry, particularly concerning the I-Shift gearbox. Fellow operators told us they were very impressed, both with its ease of use and the effect on fuel consumption. We also really liked the look of the new Jonckheere body so we decided to give them both a go and it’s proving a great combination.”

Specified with Volvo’s DH12E engine rated at 420hp, coupled to the I-Shift gearbox, the 12.2m vehicle features 51 seats full climate control, toilet, CD/DVD player and hot and cold drinks facilities. It will be used for private hire throughout Ireland and into Europe, as well as to Premiership matches in England on behalf of Celtic Horizon Tours.

“It’s early days,” says Philip, “but the B12B is certainly living up to expectations. It may have been a while since we bought Volvo but it might not be too long before the next one!”

Ardcavan Tours is regarded as one of the top coach operators in Ireland. In addition to private hire, and contract work for Celtic Horizon, the company operates daily scheduled services from Wexford to Dublin, Limerick and Maynooth.
