The Volvo BZL Double Decker Electric – MCV is simply great to drive, with outstanding take-off and hill-climbing performance. A well-balanced mechanical system ensures that the 400 kW powertrain puts the power to the ground while providing excellent ride comfort and predictive behaviour to support the driver in any road condition. Features like Hill Start Aid, Brake Assist, and Electronic Stability Control are there to support the driver.

The adjustable dashboard features easy-to-read instruments and controls located logically, helping the driver stay focused and alert.

The digital instrument cluster shows what the driver needs to know. No less – no more. Redundant information is minimised to reduce driver distraction so that the driver can focus on the traffic and drive more safely. Traction batteries with high usable energy capacity and fast CCS charging make for efficient and convenient operation with short stops. Volvo’s usable energy commitment means that you need not worry about storage capacity at all.

The range of an electric bus depends on several factors. Together with the operator, we analyse the energy needs for each route and guarantee that the required energy capacity will be available throughout the contract period.

Battery Management System
A bus battery’s lifetime will substantially increase if it is managed correctly, both in operation and in charging and maintenance. All Volvo electric buses feature a smart Battery Management System which controls all charging and discharging processes, and which also monitors battery health and performance.
A modern powertrain built on experience
Volvo’s electric buses feature the powerful electric Volvo powertrain with optimised transmissions, delivering power and drivability for safe operation in the most demanding conditions. The dual motors offer a power output of 400 kW, corresponding to no less than 540 hp. This will allow for swift and smooth operation even with a full passenger load on hilly routes.

2-speed automated manual transmission
Gear changing is automatic and software-controlled. During gear shifting, the transmission program uses the electric motor to synchronize input and output shafts to speed up and optimize the comfort of the gear shift.
Hill start function
The Volvo BZL Double Decker Electric – MCV is equipped with a Hill Start Aid, preventing the bus from rolling backwards when starting on hills. The system is designed for safe and effortless starts with heavy loads even on a 20% uphill gradient.
