Dechchai Kulkarineetham, General Manager of Volvo Bus (Thailand) Ltd, revealed that since the announcement of adding more options for customers to assemble the body, many leading bus assembly factories showed interest in joining us. The Volvo Bus team is accelerating the survey and checking the conditions of the bus body assembly plants to meet international standards. In case any factory is not yet qualified; the Volvo team will give advice and suggest ways to improve.

“We have strong confidence that adding local body builders will lead to a qualitative improvement and bring business benefits to our customers. They will have more options for body design, interior set up, functionality etc. And if customers prefer imported bus bodies, we still have Truckquip Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia as an existing Volvo authorized body builder,” Mr. Dechchai mentioned.

Under the terms of selecting potential body builders, interested participants must have high competence to assemble the bus body along with a fully dedicated team, training facilities, development systems, policies and regulations to take care of employees with international standards, global standard factory management systems and equipment that meet the international requirements, such as tools, machinery covering the body design program, parts supply management, aftersales services and product warranty after delivery.

In Thailand, Volvo Buses sell premium chassis to our customers, so the assembly factory is crucial in the customer’s decision to purchase the chassis. We therefore have to ensure the body assembly plants meet every need of our customers’,” said Dechchai Kulkarineetham.

“We are in the process of collecting information from interested parties, examining thoroughly every stage of this process and not in a hurry. It is our commitment to our customers to conclude with the most suitable and highest quality standard body builders in Thailand,” Dechchai Kulkarineetham concluded.
