Aircoach, a wholly owned subsidiary of FirstGroup, has purchased eight 12.6 metre, full executive vehicles. The new 49-seater coaches are earmarked for its non-stop express service to Cork.
Dervla McKay, Managing Director of Aircoach, said: “We purchased our first B11R in 2014 and have since added a further 40 Volvo vehicles to our fleet which is 70 per cent Volvo.
“The coaches are popular with our drivers, and the reliability we know we can expect from Volvo and Plaxton helps us provide a quality service to our customers.
“We have had a very good experience with our previous vehicles, so when the time came to expand our fleet, we had no hesitation in repeating the order.
“The B11R also comes out on top when considering the highly efficient Euro V1 engine, which really has a positive impact on our fuel costs and was a big deciding factor with this order. These coaches are certainly more fuel efficient than the vehicles they have replaced.”
Volvo Retail Bus & Coach Sales Manager, Richard Mann, added: “Aircoach is a longstanding customer and we have had the pleasure of working with them for a number of years. Dervla and her team provide an important service for their customers in Ireland, so it is good to know their fleet of Volvo vehicles is helping them to continue to do just that.”
Dervla added: “Our dealership for aftersales and support is Irish Commercials, we have a great relationship with them and they are always open to change and new ways of adapting to what we need.
