The latest arrivals, a 53-seat model and 57-seat configuration, replace older vehicles in the operator’s six-strong line-up. They’ll support a broad range of work, from transporting international rugby and football teams to handling private hire, corporate events, conferences and school trips.
Sinéad Nolan, Managing Director of Allied Coaches, says: “When we began looking for new vehicles, Volvo Buses came highly recommended, for the performance and build quality of the coaches as well as the strength of the aftersales support. Reliability is very important for us, as we need to maximise vehicle uptime – and the group’s reputation gives us real confidence in that investment.
“Our drivers are closely involved in the decision-making process and have been impressed with the eVoTor’s drivability and overall comfort. Early feedback from our customers has also been incredibly positive, so it is clear we made the right choice.”
Allied Coaches has long been a transport partner for major sporting fixtures, managing movements for local and international teams. Its work includes supporting the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and its Dublin Senior Hurling and Football Teams, better known as ‘The Dubs’.
Most recently, the new coaches transported a visiting international rugby team competing in the Six Nations – who provided especially positive feedback, which is a good measure of space and comfort on board.
Finished in Allied Coaches’ signature graphite grey livery and built on Volvo’s proven B8R eight‑litre chassis, each 12.6‑metre coach is PSVAR‑compliant and fitted with a side‑mounted wheelchair lift to ensure accessible boarding. Inside, the coaches offer generous overhead luggage racks, a Bosch audiovisual system and individual USB charging points.
Passengers benefit from reclining seats with seat‑back tables, magazine nets and footrests, supporting a comfortable and convenient journey. The 53-seat model is fitted with a centre sunken freshwater toilet, which can be dismantled to allow for 55 seats, while the 57-seat’s optimised layout allows for its extended seating capacity.
Volvo’s D8K engine provides enhanced fuel efficiency and delivers up to 350hp and 1,585 Nm of torque. This is driven through a 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission, ensuring smooth gear changes and high average speeds.
Nolan Coaches was founded by Jimmy Nolan in the 1950s. His son James established Allied Coaches in the 1970s, and since the early 2010s his daughter Sinéad has led the business.
