On a Mission order seven new Volvos at Euro Bus Expo 2008

On a Mission Coaches placed an order for another seven Volvo B12Bs with Jonckheere bodywork at Euro Bus Expo 2008, such has been their delight with the performance of the two tri-axle B12B Jonckheeres they purchased last year.

This time the Bedfordshire based operator has chosen three 12.2 metre vehicles and four 14 metre tri-axles, all for delivery this year. The two-axle vehicles have been specified with Volvo’s Euro 5 Incentive DH12E 12.1 litre engines rated at 420hp and the tri-axles will have Euro 4 compliant 460hp engines, all coupled to the Volvo I-shift gearbox.

The tri-axle vehicles which can comfortably accommodate 59 passengers boast a high spec interior, featuring leather headrests to all seats and a separate crew compartment with bunk, which will enable co-drivers to rest when sharing long journeys. The 12.2 metre coaches, which have capacity for 51/53 passengers, will also feature a driver’s bunk and leather courier and crew seat.

Both types of coaches will feature full climate control, toilet, fridge, hot drinks machine, DVD player with two 23” monitors, and a satellite navigation system which permits passenger viewing.

On a Mission’s General Manager, Ian Foster explained, “Our existing tri-axle Volvos have enabled us to accommodate larger groups and we’ve also found that the engine/gearbox combination is particularly impressive, given the size of the vehicle. We’re planning to use the new tri-axles on our Continental touring programme, whilst the 12 metre vehicles will be used for UK touring, private hire and school contract work where we don’t require such a large capacity.”

Ian continued, “The other reason for choosing Volvo again is that their after-sales care is so good. Our local dealers, Volvo Truck and Bus Centre in Milton Keynes, have provided an excellent service and the relationship is something that company owners, Milan Bjelobaba and Jason Ellaway were very keen to maintain. By purchasing seven brand new vehicles next year, we’ll have nine coaches benefiting from Volvo’s first class warranty!”

Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Jo Standbridge added, “It’s always rewarding to do brisk business at a show, but it is particularly pleasing to see that On A Mission have been so satisfied with both our vehicles and also our dealer’s service,  that they have come straight back for more!”
