The family run firm, established in the 1950s, operate a variety of coach tours, from day excursions to long distance European holidays. Their new B7R marks the company’s first new Volvo coach since 2004, although they have purchased used Volvo vehicles during that time period.
Specified with Volvo’s rear mounted common rail D7E 7 litre engine rated at 290hp, coupled to a ZF six speed fully automatic gearbox, the new coach easily meets all of the latest emission requirements by attaining the Euro 5 incentive/EEV standard.
Johnson Brothers’ B7R boasts 36 passenger seats with stylish leather headrests and a rear servery area. With air conditioning, CD/DVD player, fully integrated CCTV, internal display monitor and a reversing camera, the coach offers passengers a safe, comfortable and enjoyable ride. There is also a rear mounted toilet installed on the offside.
Internal roof lighting provides passengers disembarking during darker winter months with extra visibility onboard the vehicle, increasing safety and providing a high level of customer care.
“Volvo have really got their act together on the small coach chassis options that they provide,” explained Johnson Brothers Tours Director, Lee Johnson. “We’ve had larger Volvo coaches before, but we needed a smaller vehicle and we had quite specific requirements, so hopefully the B7R is the perfect solution.
“With our tours travelling all over Europe, including France, Germany and Spain we needed a stylish, yet reliable vehicle. We talked to other operators and they highly recommended the Volvo B7R and quite simply it ticked all of the boxes.
“We also get a lot of passengers from abroad,” he continued “and they like to be well positioned as the coach travels round the country, so that they can take in all the sights. The Volvo B7R gives us the capability to provide those smaller groups with not only the comfort they would expect, but also the views”.
Johnson Brothers Tours new Volvo B7R has been customised with the company’s traditional two tone blue livery with yellow stars to match the majority of their 150 strong fleet.
