It was the all-Volvo factor that proved impossible to resist for the Inverness based firm. “Purchasing a fully integrated Volvo coach means we know we can trust the quality and it’s just an all round high spec vehicle,” explained Managing Director, Graham Urquhart. “The Volvo 9700 was extremely comprehensively equipped with everything our passengers need and it’s a very nice coach to drive”.
A premium specification coach, the 9700 prestige plus combines distinctive exterior styling with interior detailing for class-leading safety performance and top quality driveline technology. Specified with a rear placed 12.1 litre engine, rated at 420hp, the B12B also features Volvo I-Shift technology helping to minimise both fuel consumption and emissions.
The chassis benefits from independent front suspension, disc brakes and the latest generation of Electronic Braking System, facilitating smooth braking and better all round road holding for a comfortable, safe journey.
Offering spacious, ergonomic TS2000 comfort plus club class seating for 49 passengers, with side shift mechanism and 3-point safety belts, the 9700 is specifically designed with passenger comfort in mind. The seats have blue leather head rests and side cheeks, whilst all of the windows have curtains and blinds.
The 9700 provides passengers with an onboard CD/DVD player, ‘Sound and Vision’ audio visual with twin motorised flip down LCD monitors. There is also a centre demountable toilet and inbuilt CCTV cameras.
Satellite Navigation is fitted as standard as is a reversing camera, which assists the driver during manoeuvres, whilst the ergonomic driver’s area means that the driving experience is comfortable, effortless and enjoyable.
It wasn’t just the quality of the vehicle that persuaded Graham Urquhart to invest in the new Volvo 9700. “I have a long standing working relationship with Jim Newman (Volvo Coach and Bus, Regional Sales Manager), he’s always been extremely helpful in getting me good quality vehicles and I trust that my new Volvo 9700 will be no different.
Volvo have got some really good people to work with, Neil Ritchie (Volvo Service Support) is another Volvo man I have had a number of dealings with and found to be extremely accommodating to our business requirements. It helps when you have support that you can trust when purchasing a new vehicle”.
Graham Urquhart Travel’s latest purchase takes the number of vehicles in the fleet to seven, including four full sized coaches. The new Volvo 9700 has been specified in all white with purple branding.
“I’m delighted that Graham has purchased his first ever brand new Volvo 9700,” explained Volvo Coach and Bus Regional Sales Manager, Jim Newman. “I’ve known Graham a long time and he expects the best, which is exactly what we have provided him, I hope this purchase will be the first of many”.
