“We have a broad range of customers from private hire contracts and schools to over 60’s clubs,” explained Woodstones’ Director, Richard Meredith. “By working to meet the requirements of our customers, we have seen our repeat business continually grow. We’ve been working with Volvo since 1982 and we’ve had Plaxton Profile B7Rs since March 2003 and then replaced two every year, meaning this delivery marks our 17th and 18th Volvo coaches”.
“They are good, reliable, fuel efficient vehicles that allow us to deliver real value and transport our passengers safely and in comfort. The new coaches conform to Euro 5 emissions standards meaning they are cleaner and greener. Volvo and Plaxton have really got it right with the B7R Profile in my opinion”.
Specified with a rear mounted D7E 7.1 litre Euro 5 incentive engine, rated at 290hp and automatic gearbox, the Volvo B7R combines fuel injection with common rail technology, providing a broad torque range as well as low fuel consumption, low emissions and a long service life.
Woodstones two new B7Rs feature 53 and 57 reclining seats respectively. They are specified with three point safety belts and both new vehicles are fitted with passenger side wheelchair lifts to offer access for all.
LED destination equipment and a reversing camera are also installed on both new vehicles. Whilst the livery features Woodstones’ instantly recognisable white, red, yellow and orange company design.
The new coaches entered operation from 1st March 2011 replacing two 2008 plated vehicles and adding to the all Volvo, B7R Plaxton Profile fleet.
“Woodstones and Richard Meredith are always a pleasure to deal with,” explained Volvo Bus Sales Consultant, Brian Walker. “They have been specifying Volvo for a number of years and are real advocates of the B7R chassis, in addition to the strong aftermarket care that comes with the vehicles as part of Volvo’s customer commitment”.
