Doigs purchased a specifically designed, Volvo B9R, 13 metre, 2 axle vehicle to supplement their existing fleet and a new rear-engined Volvo B7R coach to replace an existing model. Both coaches entered service immediately.
Specified with Volvo’s D9 9.4 litre engine rated at 380hp, coupled to the I-Shift gearbox, the new B9R is fitted with the stylish Sunsundegui bodywork and also boasts a luxurious interior. It has tinted windows and is liveried in Doigs recognisable trademark silver.
Featuring 55 reclining seats with 3 point safety belts, air conditioning, demountable toilet and two TV screens linked to an on-board DVD player, the B9R is built with passenger comfort in mind.
“Our new B9R is a lovely and also quite a unique vehicle,” explained Doigs’ Director, Iain Forsyth. “It’s a two axle 13 metre with 55 seats and plenty of extra luggage room, which is important as the vehicle will be used across the whole spectrum of our work from private hire and corporate work to school contracts”.
The vehicle is also specified with on-board CCTV cameras to help ensure passenger and driver safety, as well as a built-in reversing camera.
Doigs also replaced one of their vehicles with a new Volvo B7R coach having previously successfully run two vehicles on that chassis.
“We’ve had Volvo B7R’s before and they’re excellent,” continued Iain Forsyth. “They are robust and versatile and have the seating capacity that we require, with the high quality Sunsundegui bodywork we like”.
Doigs’ new B7R Sunsundegui sports the Alcoa Durabright wheels and is specified with Volvo’s D7E 7.1 litre Euro 5 incentive diesel engine, rated at 290hp, coupled to the ZF Ecolife gearbox.
It features 57 reclining seats with 3 point safety belts, air conditioning, entertainment system, CCTV and reversing cameras and is expected to be used across the company’s expansive tour programme, as well as for weddings and school contracts.
Half of Doigs 20 strong fleet is now specified as Volvo and Doigs’ Director Iain Forsyth explains that this is partially due to his strong relationship with Volvo Regional Coach Sales Manager, Duncan Crosby. “I’ve known Duncan a long time, I like working with him, he is extremely knowledgeable and knows our requirements when it comes to quality coaches for our customers”.
“With Volvo you also get the superb aftermarket support, which is important and another one of the reasons we keep coming back for more vehicles”.
“I’m absolutely delighted we could once again meet Doigs’ requirements, all part of the Volvo customer commitment” explained Duncan Crosby, Volvo Bus Regional Coach Sales Manager. “They’ve taken two really nice coaches, which join an already strong Volvo contingent within the Doigs fleet.
