Based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Motts Travel has a fleet of 55 vehicles, over 30 of which are specified on the Volvo chassis. This represents a strong investment and trust in the Volvo brand, products and services by the Buckinghamshire operator.

Volvo’s B9R combines the driving qualities of the B12B and B12M with the lightweight characteristics of the Volvo B7R, making it an extremely popular vehicle with operators and drivers alike.

“It is perfect for our general coach work,” explained owner Roger Mott. “We felt the Volvo B12B was perhaps a bit too big for the type of work we undertake and the B9R provided exactly the right balance of power, fuel economy and passenger comfort, all on a 12.8 metre body.

“We’ve had vehicles in the UK Coach Rally for the past six years, so I was delighted we took delivery of our first new Volvo B9R in time to take it along to Peterborough,” he continued. “Both coaches will go straight into service working on our holiday tours across the UK and on the continent. We’ll also be using them on some of our private hire contracts”.

Motts’ new B9R coaches are specified with the vertical, rear mounted 6-cylinder D9B engine rated at 380hp. They feature the popular latest generation Volvo I-Shift 12-speed fully automated mechanical gearbox and anti-lock braking system with anti-slip regulation.

Fitted with 53 seats with leather headrests, the vehicles’ capacity can be easily adjusted to 49 seats to provide extra room for executive class travel. They have a fixed toilet in the centre, air-conditioning, in-built vacuum system, carpeted floors throughout, two TV monitors with DVD capability and an onboard fridge.

To assist the driver, each vehicle has reversing cameras, whilst eight onboard CCTV cameras provide safety and security for passengers.

“We have built up a strong relationship with Motts Travel over the years,” explained Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Jo Standbridge. “Roger knows exactly what he wants and he expects quality and consistent performance from all of his coaches and I’m delighted we could meet his requirements again on this occasion”.
