Following the show the new Cropley vehicle was pressed straight into action, carrying passengers to Spain on one of the Lincolnshire based company’s European tour operations. Cropley run regular coach trips to France, Belgium, Holland and Spain as well as many excursions throughout the UK.
Specified with Volvo’s Euro 5 incentive 9 litre D9B engine rated at 380hp, coupled to the I-shift gearbox, the 13m Volvo B9R coach joins the existing Cropley fleet of 11 vehicles.
The B9R features 55 seats with 3-point safety belts and a centre demountable toilet, whilst an integrated CD/DVD player provides entertainment options for passengers. The vehicle is also fitted with a reversing camera.
Standard Volvo B9R safety features include Volvo’s Electronic Braking System (EBS), which combines with all-round disc brakes and Volvo’s VR3250 compact retarder to give a rapid reaction time and shorter stopping distances, as well as Hill Start Aid, Emergency Braking Assistance and Brake Blending.
“We’ve had seven new Volvo’s over the past five years,” explained Cropley owner John Cropley. “It’s a manufacturer we know extremely well and one that we trust to provide us with what we want. The timings also worked out well for us, with our new B9R, because it had just had its vinyl fitted so we had time to get it to Peterborough for the UK Coach Rally before sending it off to Spain.
“The B9R is perfect for our European tour programme because with the 55 seats and the centre demountable toilet it’s extremely versatile and it’s also reliable. Part of the benefit of us specifying Volvo again is the excellent back-up and aftermarket care that you get as part of the package,” continued John Cropley, “it definitely helps to influence our decision when we buy new vehicles”.
Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Jo Standbridge was at the UK Coach Rally in Peterborough to complete the handover and was delighted with the sale, “I’m really pleased that we were able to do more business with a loyal Volvo customer and also that we were able to display it at the UK Coach Rally”.
