The instantly recognisable vehicle is built on Volvo’s B13R chassis platform, which benefits from the latest generation of both Volvo’s 13 litre engine and Volvo I-Shift, minimising both fuel consumption and emissions.

Volvo’s highly responsive 13 litre, D13C, in-line 6 cylinder, Euro 5, turbocharged engine is fitted with an intercooler and delivers an impressive 460hp, whilst the I-Shift gearbox and perfectly matched double rear axle result in superb driveability and vehicle control.

Specified to luxury Prestige Plus standard and built totally within the Volvo Group, the 9700 blends distinctive exterior restyling and interior detailing with class leading safety features and driveline technology.

In terms of passenger comfort, the 9700 has TS2000 Comfort Plus seats with integral three-point safety belts, placed in a theatre floor layout with large tinted side windows to maximise passenger vision and promote a light and spacious interior.

High capacity ventilation with individually adjustable air-circulation outlet vents on each seat provide a manageable internal environment. Passengers can also enjoy authentic “concert quality” sound from the Volvo Sound & Vision on-board entertainment system, with hi-fi sound and high-resolution flat-screen monitors. LED floor level lighting and aircraft style overhead luggage compartments are fitted as standard.

The 9700’s ergonomic driver’s area has a comprehensive and clear information display and instrument layout, whilst large window areas and rear-vision wide-angle mirrors, provide the driver with superb visibility throughout the vehicle.

Safety features aboard with Front Impact Protection (FIPS) and Knee Impact Protection (KIPS) to protect the driver and Front Underrun Protection (FUPS) to prevent the possibility of a car becoming wedged under the vehicle.

Volvo’s Transport Information System Dynafleet which provides full functional reporting on areas such as fuel efficiency, service scheduling and driver technique is also provided as part of the 9700 complete vehicle package.

“The Volvo 9700 continues to lead the way in executive class coaches,” said Nick Page, Volvo Coach Sales Director. “It delivers excellent passenger comfort, it’s highly efficient and its stylish exterior lines continue to make it popular with operators.
