The Bourton-on-the-Water based operator is certainly no stranger to Volvo, with around 95% of their current fleet built on the Volvo chassis. Pulhams’ three new buses are particularly special as they are the first MCV bodied vehicles to be delivered to a UK operator, following the announcement of the new partnership between Volvo and MCV last year.

Pulhams Coaches’ Director, Andy Pulham, had the opportunity to witness the MCV production facility first hand. “Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Phil Fletcher took me out to Egypt to witness the MCV production facility for myself. I have to say I really was impressed, it’s a huge facility and really professionally run.

“It wasn’t just the facility that impressed me,” continued Andy Pulham, “I think the finish and styling of the MCV body on the B7RLE is really quite striking and when I know I’ve also got the reliability and durability of the Volvo chassis underneath, it becomes a really attractive package for us.

“With Volvo you also get the excellent back-up and support, which is very reassuring because these new B7RLEs will be very busy vehicles – running on the 26 mile 801 route from Moreton-in-Marsh through Bourton-on-the-Water to Cheltenham. With the local Volvo dealership at Wales and West, I know that we can get parts the same day if required.”

Powered by the rear mounted D7E 7.1 litre in-line, common rail fuel injection engine, which is capable of 290hp the B7RLE combines generous torque and low revs with a robust and rigid frame, which is also lightweight.

Each of Pulhams Coaches new buses features 44 passenger seats, stylish moquette seating, CCTV and an onboard reversing camera.

“It was great to be able to take Andy out to Egypt and show him the MCV production facility,” explained Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Phil Fletcher. “I think the trip demonstrated that this is a very professionally run and committed partnership that Volvo has entered into with MCV.

“With Volvo’s existing strong relationship with Pulhams Coaches, hopefully this will be the first of many more,” continued Phil Fletcher.
