The holiday tour operator’s stylish new vehicle has replaced an existing Volvo B12B coach and has already gone into operation, supporting Memory Lane’s existing fleet, which also includes two further Volvo coaches.
“We’ve had the Volvo product before and we know what we’re getting with them,” explained Memory Lane Owner, Frank Elliott. “Our coaches travel all over the UK and Europe on our tour programme, so the purchase of a new vehicle is a big decision, which is important to get right. We looked at most things in the market and when we looked again at Volvo; we decided that the B13R was the vehicle for us.”
“The coach has only been with us for a short period of time and its already hit 20,000 kilometers, so you can see that reliability and performance are important to us.”
Frank Elliott also stressed the importance of having the right people involved when purchasing a new coach. “Duncan Crosby (Volvo Bus, Regional Sales Manager) is great because he’s upfront and honest with us. I’ve known him a long time and I know that he listens to our queries. We also use the Thomas Hardie dealership in the North West, which is generally very good.”
“The biggest thing I’ve noticed so far with our new vehicle is that the B13R is much quieter, whilst running, than the B12. Our clients are already commenting about the quality of the ride and we also really like the I Shift gearbox,” continued Frank.
Specifically built to replace the B12 range, Volvo’s B13R offers greater stability, handling and passenger comfort than its predecessors. It is equipped with the strong, yet fuel efficient Volvo D13C diesel engine, capable of 460hp and connected to the proven Volvo I-Shift gearbox.
Fitted with 57 leather trimmed passenger seats, the coach also features onboard TV monitors, CD/DVD player, a demountable toilet, satellite navigation and a reversing camera. Externally, the Van Hool bodywork provides a stylish and recognisable finish.
“The B13R is still relatively new into the market,” explained Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Duncan Crosby. “Having said that, many operators – including the likes of Memory Lane are already finding it to be the ideal solution for their touring operations.
“Frank and Memory Lane have had many Volvo coaches before, so they know the type of product and service they can expect. I’m delighted that we could meet their requirements again on this occasion.”
