The Lancashire based company bought their first Volvo coach back in 1977 and have had a strong association with the Swedish manufacturer ever since. This latest purchase takes the number of Volvos in the Travellers Choice fleet to 80, which represents 90% of their total stock.

“We’ve had a long and successful association with Volvo Bus and with Regional Sales Manager, Duncan Crosby,” explained Travellers Choice Managing Director, John Shaw. “Time after time we get good quality, reliable vehicles that keep us coming back”.

“The B9R Jonckheere is perfect for our current requirements because it offers all the functionality we want on a two axle chassis,” continued John Shaw. “In addition to our eight new Jonckheeres we’re also getting a further three Volvo B9R Caetano Levante coaches for our National Express contracts, which takes the total number of Volvos recently purchased to 11.”

“We’ve dealt with Duncan Crosby since the 1970s,” said John Shaw. “He’s Volvo through and through and knows his stuff, added to that is the strong relationship we’ve forged with Andy Mageer and the Thomas Hardie Commercials team, which provide excellent back-up and support.”

Travellers Choice’s eight new B9R Jonckheere bodied coaches feature the Volvo Euro 5 D9 9.4 litre engine capable of 380hp. The engine is connected to the proven 12-speed Volvo I-Shift fully automated mechanical gearbox.

The new vehicles each feature 53 passenger seats with three point safety belts. The vehicles are also specified with TV monitors, CD/DVD player, sound system, air conditioning, toilet and drinks facilities.

With tourists travelling from America and the Far East to visit the UK, Travellers Choice provide tour programmes out of London and their new Volvo B9Rs will be used on these contracts.

“It’s a huge year for Travellers Choice,” said Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Duncan Crosby. “2012 marks their 140th anniversary and it’s quite fitting that they’ve celebrated this with the purchase of some new Volvos because we’ve had such a strong relationship with them over the years.”

Andy Mageer at Thomas Hardie Commercials echoed Duncan Crosby’s thoughts, “It’s fabulous that Travellers Choice are celebrating such an impressive milestone this year and we look forward to continuing to work with them going forward.”
