The striking vehicles have already entered service travelling across the tour operator’s many different excursions. They will support Premium Coaches existing fleet, which already includes two Volvo B12Ms purchased in 2010.
“The Volvo B9R was our choice when we chose to invest in two new coaches,” said John Jamieson, Premium Coaches’ Operations Manager. “The B12Ms that we purchased in 2006 had been extremely good. They’re reliable and durable, so when it came to upgrading our fleet again this year, we returned to Volvo.
“We like the Jonckheere styled bodywork, but it’s the performance and efficiency of the Volvo chassis that is the big seller for us.
“Added to that is the tremendous backup and support that you get as standard with Volvo,” continued John Jamieson. “Volvo Action Service really is very superb and we have the Volvo dealership at Croydon, which has always been good for us.”
He also paid tribute to Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Jo Standbridge, “Jo has got great industry and product knowledge. We bought our B12Bs from her in 2006 and we had the pleasure of dealing with her again on this purchase. It makes it so much easier when you deal with good people.”
Premium Coaches’ two new B9Rs feature the rear mounted D9B 9.4 litre engine, capable of 380hp. The diesel engine is connected to the highly acclaimed Volvo I-Shift 12 speed fully automated gearbox and the result is a lightweight and versatile coach, with excellent driveability.
One of the new vehicles features 55 passenger seats, whilst the other has 53, but includes a toilet and servery. Both coaches are fitted with onboard entertainment features including TV monitors and CD/DVD player.
Premium Coaches’ new coaches are specified in metallic silver and feature a new dynamically designed purple livery across the front, back and sides of the vehicle, creating a distinctive and stylish, high class finish.
