Equipped with the fuel efficient Volvo D11C 6 cylinder diesel engine, the B11R offers high power with less weight and more efficiency. As a direct result the new vehicle also achieves greater fuel economy and will be available in two and three axle variants.
Depending on whether operators select the two or three axle variants, the B11R is available with a range of power outputs including 370 hp, 410 hp and 450 hp, while the Euro V emission standard is attained using SCR technology.
There is a wide range of stylish body selections available on the new B11R including the all new Sunsundegui SC7, VDL Jonckheere and a Caetano option. All of the body combinations support first class Volvo driveability, exceptional torque and versatility with outstanding fuel efficiency.
The 55 seat Sunsundegui is the larger of the two B11R vehicles on the Volvo stand at Euro Bus Expo at 13 metres. It features a 480 litre fuel tank, a 410 hp vertical rear engine and has a luggage capacity of approx 10m3.
Also displayed is a 53 seat VDL Jonckheere BV126 B11R with a 425 litre fuel tank and 410hp vertical rear engine. This vehicle has a luggage capacity of approx 9m3.
Volvo’s integrated driveline offers the I-Shift gearbox with all engine options, whilst a ZF Ecolife 6 speed automatic gearbox is also available on the 370 hp version. In addition front suspension options are independent front suspension or a beam axle depending on bodybuilder and model specification.
Meeting Whole Vehicle Type Approval technical standards and with operational flexibility, the B11R offers operators excellent sustainable business results. A small number of prototypes have been in trial service with operators in the UK and Ireland, including extensive mileage carried out by Volvo Bus UK.
The chassis benefits from a range of Volvo’s well-known safety features, such as powerful EBS controlled disc brakes and a multiplexed electronics system.
The chassis frame is optimised to suit bodybuilder choice and efficient body construction, guaranteeing operators a long and highly productive service life, whilst Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels help to compliment the overall appearance of the vehicle.
“We’re excited to unveil our new B11R coach at Euro Bus Expo,” explained Steve Dewhurst, Volvo Bus UK Managing Director. “It’s an exciting addition to our already impressive coach line-up.
“As always at Volvo, we emphasise versatility and body builder choice for the customer,” he continued. “Having a full size coach on two axles is an important productivity benefit for many operators.”
