First new Volvo for Three Star Coaches

Luton based operator Three Star Coaches have recently taken delivery of their first new Volvo coach – a B9R with Sunsundegui bodywork.

“I needed a coach that would offer real prestige and undoubtedly Volvo provides that,” explained Three Star Coaches Owner, Colin Dudley. “They are the leading manufacturer in the market as far as I’m concerned in terms of vehicles and from my experience of their excellent aftermarket service.”

Although not the Bedfordshire operator’s first Volvo coach, with four pre-owned vehicles in the fleet, the B9R is their first new Volvo purchase. “It offered all of the facilities and higher levels of quality that we required and with the stylish Sunsundegui bodywork, it also has that all important curb appeal.”

“Purchasing the B9R certainly wasn’t a decision I made overnight,” said Colin Dudley, “I did the research and looked at the market, but with Volvo the reliability is always excellent and unquestionably that played a major role in my decision. In addition, Jo Standbridge and the Volvo sales team gave us great support and allowed me to trade in an older vehicle.”

Three Star Coaches’ new D9B 9.4 litre B9R, which is rated at 390hp and specified with the Volvo I-Shift gearbox joins the company’s 15 strong fleet and goes straight into active service. Colin Dudley continued, “The vehicle has been specifically purchased for a developing part of our business – the day trip programme. It has a busy schedule ahead and will be shortly heading off to the Isle of Wight on one of our three day breaks.

The B9R is fitted with 55 executive passenger seats, two TV monitors, CCTV, air-conditioning, WC, CD/DVD sound system and an onboard fridge. “I think our passengers will enjoy that extra level of quality and comfort internally,” continued Colin Dudley, “and I’m certainly looking forward to see what the B9R can do in terms of fuel economy.

“Three Star Coaches have purchased a new B9R with Sunsundegui bodywork and it’s their first new Volvo,” commented Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Jo Standbridge. “They’ve traditionally been a pre-owned Volvo buyer, but they hold Volvo Bus in great esteem and that is reflected in their purchase.”
