Traditionally known as an independent coach operator, Kenzies Coaches have purchased the popular Volvo B7RLE buses as a result of expanding their business offering. The new vehicles join Kenzies’ 20 strong coach fleet and are set to operate on a recently acquired local shuttle bus service.
“We purchased the new vehicles to meet our growing business requirements,” commented Cyril Kenzie. “We needed comfortable, economic and reliable buses to meet the demands of our new local business park shuttle bus service.
“16 of our 20 existing vehicles in the coach fleet are built on the Volvo platform and we’ve traditionally had a strong association with them,” he continued. “It therefore made sense to speak to them again with regards to our bus requirements.
“A seated passenger capacity of 44 and low front entry for wheelchair users were also key factors in the purchase of the B7RLEs,” concluded Cyril Kenzie.
Featuring a robust and rigid, yet lightweight frame, the B7RLE is powered by the D7E 7.1 litre in-line, common rail fuel injection diesel engine, rated at 290hp. The front suspension facilitates an integrated wide centre gangway and this, combined with the low floor height, facilitates access for all, whatever their mobility level.
“Although Kenzies Coaches have a long association with Volvo Bus, it has always traditionally been on the coach side of our business,” explained Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Phil Fletcher. “On this occasion they had a requirement for their first ever buses, so we are obviously delighted that we could work with them on this opportunity and get two B7RLEs delivered into them ready to go into service.”
