Following the acquisition of their two new coaches, Plastows’ fleet now totals nine vehicles all of which are built on the proven Volvo chassis.
“We’ve always been a fan of the Volvo Jonckheere combination,” said Plastows’ Partner, Barbara Plastow. “The new B9Rs feature 53 passenger seats and a toilet, which makes them ideal for our private hire work.
“Our whole fleet is Volvo based – and that’s not an accident! We’ve looked at the rest of the market, but Volvo has consistently provided us with the right vehicles at the right time.
“I’ve dealt with Volvo Bus Regional Coach Sales Manager, Jo Standbridge, over a long period of time now. We’ve built up a good understanding and a trust, which I think is really important when it comes to us reinvesting in our fleet.”
Plastows’ new Volvo B9R coaches are specified with a rear-mounted D9B 9.4 litre diesel engine, capable of 380hp and connected to the 12-speed fully automated Volvo I-Shift mechanical gearbox.
The vehicle has an exceptionally wide rev range resulting in excellent driveability, whilst the electronically controlled air suspension provides a high level of comfort for passengers.
Other important features present on each of the new coaches include 53 high specification, leather trimmed seats, two TV monitors, CD/DVD player, coffee machine and a reversing camera.
“This investment represents continued faith in the Volvo brand and our popular B9R chassis. It is also a strong endorsement of our customer service,” explained Jo Standbridge. “We have dealt with Plastows Coaches for many years and I look forward to working with them again in the future.
