The Lancashire based company have taken delivery of their very first two Volvo B13R 14 metre variant coaches, as well as four new B9Rs.
Travellers Choice bought their first Volvo coach back in 1972 and have had a strong association with the company ever since. Their latest purchase takes the number of Volvo vehicles in their fleet to an impressive 60.
“We’ve had a long and successful association with Volvo Bus and with Regional Sales Manager, Duncan Crosby,” explained Travellers Choice Director, Mark Shaw. “We get good quality, reliable vehicles from Volvo and that keeps us coming back for more.”
The Volvo B13R 14-metre coach is the biggest vehicle in the Volvo Bus range and is ideal for touring requirements. The two new 65 seat vehicles delivered to Travellers Choice will be used on the company’s international ski and tour holiday programme.
Featuring Volvo’s Euro 5 13-litre 460hp diesel engine, connected to the 12-speed I-Shift gearbox, the B13R is big and powerful. It is specifically designed for long service intervals with swift and simple maintenance.
The new vehicles are specified with an on-board toilet, TV monitors, CD/DVD player, sound system, air conditioning and drinks facilities.
Further to the new B13Rs, Travellers Choice’s four new B9R Jonckheere bodied coaches feature the Volvo Euro 5 D9 9.4 litre engine capable of 380hp. The engine is connected to the proven 12-speed Volvo I-Shift fully automated mechanical gearbox.
Each vehicle features 53 passenger seats with three point safety belts. They are also specified with TV monitors, CD/DVD player, sound system, air conditioning, toilet and drinks facilities.
Commenting on the delivery, Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Duncan Crosby said “These are Travellers Choice’s first two 65 seat B13Rs with the Jonckheere body and I’m sure they will be delighted with them.
“They’ve also upgraded some of the rest of their existing Volvo fleet with the purchase of four new Volvo B9Rs. That’s a chassis they’ve had before and one which they have found reliable, so it’s pleasing from our perspective that they’ve ordered some more.”
