Volvo the obvious choice for Hills Coaches

Wolverhampton based operator Hills Coaches have taken delivery of a new Volvo B9R coach with Sunsundegui Sideral 2000 bodywork as part of an upgrade to their fleet options.

Hills Coaches’ new vehicle was delivered during early March and has already begun work on the company’s local private hire contracts. It is also set to be used across European Tour contracts, with its first trip scheduled to Belgium later in the month.

“This new coach is our third Volvo B9R,” explained Hills Coaches’ Darren Hill. “We’ve been really pleased with the performance of the other two vehicles we’ve been operating, so when it came to upgrading our fleet again, Volvo seemed the obvious choice.

“Our fleet now consists of 21 vehicles, 14 of which are built on the Volvo chassis,” he continued. “Over half of our fleet is Volvo based simply because we trust them. They supply us strong, reliable and fuel efficient coaches and we also get excellent back-up and support from the local Hartshornes dealership.

“This vehicle is the fifth coach that we’ve had with the Sunsundegui bodywork and we really like the finish. The combination of Volvo chassis and Sunsundegui bodywork is ideal for our requirements.”

Darren Hill concluded, “We’d certainly specify Volvo again in the future. We’ve dealt with Volvo Coach Sales Manager, James Hyde, throughout the purchasing process and his knowledge and support was important to us.”

Powered by a rear placed Volvo D9B engine, rated at 380hp, the B9R is fitted with the intelligent Volvo I-Shift automatic gearbox as standard. Combined they make the B9R an easy to drive and fuel efficient vehicle.

The interior features 49 passenger seats with leather headrests, servery, onboard toilet, two TV screens, DVD player and a climate control system.

Commenting on Darren Hill’s decision to take on a new Volvo B9R Sunsundegui coach, James Hyde said, “Hills Coaches have had some really positive feedback from both drivers and passengers about their existing B9Rs and they have also achieved favourable fuel consumption results, therefore it was the obvious choice for them.”
