With half of the Lakeside Coaches’ entire fleet now specified on the Volvo chassis it’s a product and service that they know and trust. Their latest coach is the company’s first B11R and their first 14 metre tri-axle coach.
“It was mainly about increased passenger capacity,” commented Neal Hall, Lakeside Coaches’ Director and General Manager. “We wanted a large coach capable of carrying 59 passengers and that also featured a demountable toilet.
“All of the Volvos we’ve purchased in recent years have proven to be extremely reliable and fuel efficient, so when it came to finding another vehicle for use on our private hire and tour contracts, we opted for Volvo again.
“I travelled to Spain to visit the Sunsundegui factory with Volvo Regional Coach Sales Manager, Phil Hudson,” continued Neal Hall. “I then made some specific requirements which were quickly met. We’re absolutely delighted with the finished product.”
Powered by Volvo’s 11 litre rear engine rated at 460hp, the new coach is fitted with the intelligent Volvo I-Shift 12 speed automatic gearbox as standard and uses the EBS-5 brake system, all of which combined make the B11R an incredibly fuel efficient vehicle.
Exterior features of the vehicle include Alcoa Durabright aluminium alloy wheels and eye catching livery, whilst the interior features 59 leather trimmed passenger seats, servery, two TV screens, DVD player and a climate control system.
“Back-up and support is split between two Volvo’s dealerships, Thomas Hardie in Deeside and the Hartshorne dealership in Shrewsbury. Both of which give us great service and we’ve dealt with them over many years,” continued Neal Hall.
Commenting on Neal Hall’s decision to take on a new Volvo B11R Sunsundegui SC7, Phil Hudson said, “Lakeside Coaches have been a long-term Volvo customer and we’ve had good feedback on the vehicles they’ve purchased in the past. On this occasion they required a longer vehicle to provide more capacity. We were delighted to meet their requirements.”
