New B9R adds to Bayliss Executive Travel’s 100% Volvo fleet

The recent delivery of Bayliss Executive Travel’s new Volvo B9R coach, with Jonckheere bodywork, means that all of the company’s eight coaches are now built on the Volvo chassis.

“Volvo build good solid, reliable coaches,” explained company owner, Alistair Bayliss. “We looked at it a while ago and decided that we wanted to unify our fleet under just one manufacturer and Volvo met all of the important criteria.

“We have an excellent relationship with Volvo Bus and with their Regional Sales Manager, Richard Mann. We’ve had B9R coaches before and we’ve been really pleased with their performance and fuel economy. As a result we had no hesitation in our decision.”

“The Jonckheere body gives the vehicle an excellent finish and it was important to us that we could specify that particular combination.”

Bayliss Executive Travel’s new 12.56 metre coach will be used across a wide spectrum of works including some of the company’s important cruise contracts and private hire.

One of the first duties for the Bayliss new coach was the launch of a new cruise ship at Southampton docks. “The versatility of the vehicle was a key factor in our decision,” continued Alistair Bayliss.

The B9R chassis incorporates the rear-mounted Volvo D9B engine, which delivers exceptional torque across a wide rev range, resulting in excellent driveability. This is attached to the fully automated Volvo I-Shift 12-speed mechanical gearbox.

Fitted with 53 passenger seats with three point safety belts, a centre toilet and servery, two TV monitors, CD/DVD player and a refrigerator, the coach is designed with passenger comfort and safety in mind.

“Bayliss Executive Travel have been pleased with the performance they’ve had from their existing Volvo coaches and we’re delighted to meet their continued requirements with this latest purchase,” explained Volvo Regional Coach Sales Manager, Richard Mann.

“The fact that all of the Bayliss Executive Travel fleet is now Volvo specified shows the high esteem with which they regard our product range.”
