The new vehicle has already entered active service and is being used on Deros Tours’ Irish tour work contracts, complimenting the existing vehicles in the fleet.
Dero Tours’ Transport Manager, Denis Spillane, said of the company’s decision to go ahead with a repeat order from last year: “It’s the driveability factor that sells the Volvo B13R 9700 to us. It’s a driver’s vehicle. They give us excellent feedback and then we have to negotiate as to which one of them is going to be driving it on our tours.”
“We have also received positive feedback from our passengers who have travelled on the B13R. At the end of the day they are the driving force behind our business, so it’s important that we listen to their feedback”.
“The previous Volvo B13R met all of our requirements. Taking another Volvo means we maintain a certain level of continuity with our new coaches in the fleet. Volvo back up and support was also important to our decision and we have a long-term relationship with Irish Commercials.”
“I’d certainly have no problem in specifying Volvo again in the future when we are ready to purchase more vehicles,” concluded Denis Spillane.
Powered by the proven Volvo D13C in-line six-cylinder diesel engine, the Volvo B13R meets the Euro 5 emission standard and comes fitted with the established Volvo I-Shift 12-speed, automated gear changing system. Featuring the popular 9700 bodywork the coach benefits from being a complete Volvo vehicle.
Interior features of the vehicle include 49 passenger seats, WC, TV, CD and DVD player. The new coach has also been specified with a forward facing camera and has WIFI capabilities for passengers.
James Hyde said, “Deros Tours had already had a good experience with their previous Volvo delivery. In this sense the process was quite an easy one. Their drivers and passengers are the people who deal with the vehicle on an everyday basis and their feedback played a significant role in the repeat delivery.”
