“We’ve been specifying Volvo since 1963,” explained Anchor Tour’s Managing Director Seamus Keenan. We have a large fleet of Volvo coaches and this latest vehicle afforded us the capacity and reliability that we required.
Anchor Tours’ new Volvo B13R 9700 is being used on the company’s UK and Irish tour contracts, including some Safari Park work. “This type of tour tends to be quite popular, especially during the summer months,” continued Seamus Keenan. “As a result the 53 seats and onboard toilet were fundamental requirements.”
The new vehicle’s 53 passenger seats have a half leather finish and add to the overall quality feel of the interior, which also includes a servery. However, it wasn’t just the aesthetics which appealed to Anchor Tours. “I’m keen to see the long-term fuel performance results with this vehicle,” added Seamus Keenan.
“This is also the first time that we have taken advantage of the support packages provided by Volvo. Volvo Financial Services put together an excellent package for us and we were delighted to utilise that option in the purchase of the new vehicle.”
Built on the reliable Volvo 3 axle, 13 metre B13R chassis and powered by a rear-mounted Euro 5 incentive, 13-litre diesel engine, rated at 460hp, the 9700 delivers performance, power, consistency and style.
Also featuring Volvo’s I-Shift 12 speed gearbox and electronically controlled disc brakes and air suspension, Anchor have specified a coach which they know and trust. “We’ve had 9700’s before,” continued Seamus Keenan. “They are excellent quality and they are reliable, plus we know that we have the superb back-up support of the Dennison Commercials and Irish Commercials Volvo dealerships.”
“Anchor Tours has always been a loyal Volvo customer,” explained Regional Coach Sales Manager, Richard Mann. “They appreciate our customer service and the reliability and quality of our vehicles. This is the first time they have taken advantage of our VFS offer and they are pleased with the overall package.”
