Passenger comfort top priority as Leasks of Lerwick specify Volvo Bus

Shetland Islands’ operator Leasks of Lerwick is in the process of purchasing a second Volvo B7RLE bus based on the successful operation of its first new vehicle, which was delivered earlier this year.

Passenger comfort and long-term reliability were the key specifications within the original order and Volvo exceeding those expectations led to a second B7RLE order.

The Euro 5 B7RLE is specified with 44 passenger seats with three point safety belts and also features MCV bodywork. It was the complete vehicle package that appealed to Leasks of Lerwick, with Volvo reliability matched by stylish MCV design.

“The performance of the 22 inch tyres on the local roads means a more comfortable ride for our passengers,” explained Leasks of Lerwick Partner, Peter Leask. “Volvo fuel economy results and overall reliability were also major factors in our decision to specify Volvo Bus.”

Leasks of Lerwick’s first B7RLE is currently operating on Shetland Islands’ local routes and some local school contracts. The passenger feedback has been extremely positive and the vehicle has proven reliable over the course of several months.

The Volvo B7RLE features the rear-mounted 6-cyclinder, 7 litre diesel engine. It is simple to drive and offers excellent roadholding, like all Volvo buses it features excellent driving safety, enhanced by powerful brakes, roll stabilisers and advanced suspension systems.

Volvo Bus Regional Sales Manager, Dan Barwick explains, “Leasks of Lerwick took one of our single deck B7RLE buses at the beginning of the year and have been pleased with its performance, this has led to an opportunity for a second vehicle. I’m delighted with the relationship with the operator and look forward to continuing it going forward.
