The Irish operator is already running two Volvo B11R coaches as part of a 20 vehicle fleet and has been impressed with the fuel economy of the product. “Our Volvo B11Rs are achieving something in the region of 13-14mpg, which has surpassed our initial expectations,” explained Kennedy Coaches Director, Patrick Kennedy.
“The fuel performance of those larger coaches and the fantastic coverage and support provided by the wider Volvo dealer network, including Irish Commercials and McCarthy Commercials, played a major role in us selecting Volvo Bus again.”
Patrick Kennedy continued: “The Volvo B8R Euro 6 is a smaller vehicle that we intend to use for corporate and golfing holiday contracts. We have specified 38 passenger seats, with provision allowed for some table configuration. The internal styling, alongside the Volvo chassis reliability, provides us with a durable and customer friendly coach.
“Volvo Retail Bus & Coach Sales Manager, David Porter was fantastic to deal with throughout our purchase. He was extremely efficient and he makes sure every detail is covered. I’d have no hesitation in working with Volvo again,” confirmed Patrick Kennedy.
The Volvo B8R Euro 6 purchased by Kennedy Coaches is built with Sunsundegui SC5 bodywork. It is designed to keep operational costs to a minimum and provide added lifecycle productivity.

The oldest coach company in Co. Kerry, Kennedy Coaches has been established since 1950. It runs a wide variety of vehicles, which include larger coaches down to mini vans. Patrick Kennedy says he sees the ongoing relationship with Volvo Bus as a key partnership for the business going forwards.
