Volvo Buses

New structure to meet evolving customer needs

For Volvo Bus, customer satisfaction remains a key focus and ensuring that its organisation fully aligns to the demands of its customers, coupled with product development and the changing customer support requirements has meant that some changes have been made in the organisation.

A new position of Product & Support Director has been created, with Ian Wallace taking up the reins. The key areas under his remit include bodybuilder interface management, sales engineering and sales support from pre-order through to delivery, together with fleet seed and demonstration activities including vehicle performance and monitoring.  An important element of this role will also include ongoing liaison with operators to gain feedback on all areas of Volvo’s service, from product development and sales through to delivery.

James Hyde has been appointed as Retail Sales Director and both James and Ian now join the Volvo Bus executive team. James’ responsibilities now cover all new and used coach, and retail bus sales.

As Commercial Sales Director Phil Owen, in addition to his existing responsibilities, will also have responsibility for developing soft product sales (contract sales & telematics business development) across the business supporting both the commercial and retail channels.

In addition to the changes above a number of the Volvo Bus team have also now retired and some new faces have been welcomed into the company.

Gordon Reid has retired from his position as Business Control Director after 16 years with the company and Gordon is replaced by Matt Howroyd who joined the Volvo Group in 2005 and has extensive financial and process experience gained through his previous roles within Volvo Trucks.

Ian Wallace’s previous role as Service Delivery Manager UK & Ireland has been filled by Kevin Capes who joins from Volvo Trucks.  Dan Tanner joins from Volvo Truck and Bus East Anglia and will be taking over Adrian Felton’s previous role of Product Engineering Manager.

Neil Heron, who was with Volvo Bus for the past 27 years as Area Service Manager, retired in July and a replacement is currently being recruited, while Darren Green has left his position of Area Service Manager for the Hartshornes Crossroads Group and this position has been filled by Tim Clarke.
