The company, which boasts a 10 strong fleet, is an exisiting Volvo Bus customer having previously purchased vehicles from the quality used bus division.
Rob Pike, Director for family owned and operated Pikes Coaches, said: “We’re excited to be taking delivery of our new coach and to having our first Volvo B11R as the latest addition to our fleet. Our previous Volvo vehicles were B9Rs which have given us very good service, but we’re really looking forward to the fuel economy savings that the new B11R Euro 6 will deliver for us. This is important for our business and was one of the key reasons for selecting this model.
“We also value the excellent aftersales support we receive from MC Truck & Bus in Southampton, with whom we have a very good relationship and use for all our external service requirements. One of the benefits of working with them is that they only provide genuine Volvo spare parts as and when they are required for installation on our vehicles.”
The new coach has Jonckheere bodywork and 53 passenger seating capacity as well as all the latest high quality internal fixtures and fittings. It is to be deployed on a wide range of work for Pikes Coaches, including general private hire and contracts as well as duplication services for National Express.
