The family owned and operated business took delivery of the 10.3m coach to add to its fleet, which covers varied work including private and corporate hire, as well as UK and continental touring.
Expressway Coaches Managing Director, Peter Regan, explained: “We had heard good things about the Volvo B8R SC5 including some very positive feedback on the quality, appearance and operational performance, so we are very confident with our decision.
“We purchased a B11R 9700 from Volvo last year and we have been very happy with the driveability and fuel efficiency of that vehicle. This time we needed something a little smaller with an onboard toilet to cater for our touring work, so this vehicle was the perfect choice.
“The B8R SC5 also has strong aesthetics and is slightly shorter than an average wheelbase, which makes it easier to navigate on narrower roads in cities and on country lanes.
“Our local Volvo dealership, Crossroads in Rotherham, provides excellent aftersales support for our external service requirements, and throughout the purchasing process we dealt with Bob McGarry at Volvo Bus who is extremely knowledgeable and supportive.
Volvo Retail Bus & Coach Sales Manager, Bob McGarry, said: “We are delighted to supply Expressway with a new Volvo B8R coach and are sure they will enjoy the manoeuvrability of this 38 seat vehicle.
“The Volvo B8R Euro 6 chassis combined with the Sunsundegui SC5 bodywork offers the best in fuel efficiency and versatile operation, and although it comes with a shorter chassis, it still has a surprisingly spacious interior.
“We are confident Expressway Coaches will be happy with the vehicle and that their passengers will enjoy the ride comfort it provides.”
Expressway Coaches has more than 20 years’ experience in luxury coach travel. The new Volvo coach is set to work on a variety of UK and European touring including London, Lake Garda, the Netherlands, and Spain.
