The company, which has not previously purchased coaches from Volvo, was impressed with the styling and comfort of the JHV2 which incentivised the purchase.
Gus Wallace, Wallace Travel Owner and Director, said: “We’ve always known that Volvo was a possibility for us, but it was the B11R JHV2 combination that tipped the balance. We really like the Jonckheere bodywork, and the style and comfort of the coach is really impressive. Add that to the fuel economy and known reliability of the Volvo chassis, and we knew we were onto a winner.”
The new 53-seater will be put straight into operation serving tours, school transport and group hire throughout Ireland. With industry leading low-emissions the Euro VI 11 litre engine not only saves on fuel costs but also futureproofs against changing legislation, like the recent ULEZ ruling which is now in play in London.
Gus added: “We’re a growing business and we need to be sure that we’re making the right investments for the future. We hope that the B11R will become a long-standing cornerstone of our fleet, and are assured that with the aftercare from Irish Commercials and the availability of parts, that will be the case.”
The B11R JHV2 for Wallace Coaches is a 12.57 metre two axle vehicle with an onboard toilet.
Dave Porter, Volvo Coach Sales Manager, added: “We are thrilled to provide Wallace Travel with their first Volvo as their latest fleet investment. We know that they’ll be more than satisfied with the operational performance and economy of the B11R, and we look forward to dealing with them again in the future.
