One of Ireland’s leading coach operators, Bernard Kavanagh & Sons, has taken delivery of nine new Volvo coaches to add to its predominantly Volvo fleet.

The Kilkenny based operator has taken delivery of three of the new premium integral 9900 coaches, plus two B11Rs with Jonckheere JHV2 bodywork, plus four B8Rs featuring Plaxton Panther bodywork and making the fleet one of the largest in Ireland.

Emmett Kavanagh, co-owner and director of Bernard Kavanagh & Sons, said “These latest deliveries mean we have purchased 32 Volvo coaches in the last three years.  In particular, the operational performance and reliability of the B11R chassis is a key factor in our buying decision.  We are looking forward to operating the new 9900, as its predecessor the 9700, has proved itself time and time again for us and we are confident our drivers and passengers alike will enjoy all that this premium state-of-the-art coach has to offer.

“The four Volvo B8Rs are in addition to four of the same specification we ordered last year. At the time, this was a change of direction for us as part of our plans to diversify our fleet and to provide a wider, more flexible offering to our customers. We’ve been very pleased with the Volvo chassis and Plaxton bodywork combination, hence this repeat order for 2019.

“As before, our Volvo Coach Sales Manager, Dave Porter, has been invaluable in helping us with the purchasing process.  He understands our requirements perfectly and ensures everything runs smoothly from the initial specification stage right through to delivery.

“Aftersales is, as always, very important to our business.  We know that we will get the service that we require from our local Volvo dealership, Irish Commercials in Naas, which was another determining factor in our purchasing decision.”

Dave Porter added: “Emmett and his team have come to us again for their 2019 coach requirements.  This repeat order is testament to their confidence in us and our products and underlines the highly positive experience they enjoy from working with Volvo.

“Irish coach operators are key to the tourist market and in turn the Irish economy and it is good to see Volvo coaches supporting this effort from Bernard Kavanagh as well as other operators in Ireland.”

Established in 1945, Bernard Kavanagh & Sons Ltd is Ireland’s largest private coach tour provider, operating its fleet from Urlingford and offering luxury modern coaches for touring and international contracts.
