This is the first new Volvo coach purchased by the family owned and run operator which has been providing services for nearly 20 years.
Derek Wheeler, Managing Director and owner of Wheelers Travel, said: “We wanted a new coach that would meet our growing needs for a vehicle that would be able to handle longer distance work, while at the same time meeting the requirements of low emission towns and cities. The B11R with its Euro VI engine ensures that we can do so. We have purchased Volvo before, but they have been used vehicles and we were keen to add a new Volvo coach to our fleet.
“We also wanted a nice looking coach and when we first saw the MCV eVoTor bodied coach at last year’s Euro Bus Expo, we felt it was the right vehicle for us. It is already in service, working on holidays, tours, day trips and other contract work. Overall fuel economy, reliability and aesthetic appearance were all factors in us selecting this coach.
“We also work with MC Truck & Bus in Southampton for our aftersales servicing and support and this was another determining factor in our decision to go with Volvo.”
Sam Prothero, Retail Bus & Coach Sales Manager for Volvo, said: “The B11R is widely recognised among UK operators for its fuel efficiency, operational performance and reliability. The MCV eVoTor bodywork is relatively new following its launch at the end of 2018 and has been very well received. This is underlined by the fact that all of our sales targets have been significantly exceeded and I’m confident that the coach will only increase in popularity as we continue into 2020.”
Established in 2000, Wheelers Coach Travel is privately owned and offers day trips, tours, contracts as well as regular bus services in and around Southampton.
