The family owned and operated company, based in Neath, purchased the new 53 seat coach to satisfy the capacity needs of additional contracts and tour operations.
Director of DJ Thomas Coaches, Lee Gibson, said: “We have been very happy with previous Volvo 9700s which performed extremely well on our touring programme. The 9900 is the next step up in the ultimate luxury vehicle.”
Coach tourists today set exacting requirements for the vehicle on which they travel. It must be pleasing to the eye, comfortable, offer an excellent view, and have a top-class audio-visual system, Volvo Buses had all of these passenger demands in mind when they created the new Volvo 9900.
Lee Gibson added: “We pride ourselves on quality and comfort and our customers expect the best from us. We know that the new Volvo 9900 will deliver everything we promise and more.
“We need vehicles we can rely on in the competitive touring market where having a vehicle off the road, especially in the busy summer months, is not an option. We also know that the B11R chassis offers excellent fuel consumption.
“Volvo’s Wales and West dealer in Swansea provides us with superb back-up and support. We’ve dealt with the Volvo team over a period of 17 years, so we have built up a great trust and understanding.”
Sam Prothero, Volvo Retail Bus & Coach Sales Manager, said: “DJ Thomas Coaches has been a loyal customer of ours for many years now, having purchased several vehicles, including a number of 9700s, from us in the past. We’re sure they will be pleased with this new flagship coach and continue to see the fuel economy savings for the business, with a little added luxury.”
DJ Thomas Coaches is a family owned operator which has been in business since 1954. Initially offering coach hire services, in 2011 the company launched a coach holiday business which operates an international tour programme.
