Kilkenny based Bernard Kavanagh & Sons, which this year reaches its 75th anniversary, has ordered three new Volvo integral B11R 9900 premium coaches, plus two B11R JHV2s for its predominantly Volvo fleet.

This latest order from the Kilkenny based operator, which this year celebrates its 75th anniversary, follows a purchase of three 9900s in 2019, with the new vehicles set to be used on incoming touring work.

Bernard Kavanagh, owner and director of Bernard Kavanagh & Sons, said “We added three of the new premium 9900 coaches to our fleet last year and have been extremely happy with their operational performance and reliability.  In particular the impressive appearance of the coach and interior styling and comfort has gone down extremely well with our passengers who are bowled over when they see it for the first time.

“As with most coach operator businesses today, aftersales is very important to us and we receive excellent service from our local Volvo dealership, Irish Commercials in Naas, which was another determining factor in our going with Volvo again this year.”

Alongside the new 9900s, Bernard Kavanagh & Sons is also purchasing two new B11Rs with JHV2 bodywork to further augment their fleet to offer a more diverse and flexible service for customers.  These recent deliveries bring the total quantity of Volvos purchased by the company to 39 in the last four years.

Bernard added: “Our Volvo Coach Sales Manager Dave Porter has, as always, provided excellent support throughout the whole purchasing process.  Having worked with us for so many years now, he knows our exact requirements perfectly and makes sure everything from the initial specification and ordering stage right through to delivery remains on track and on time.”

Dave Porter added: “We are pleased that Bernard and his team have enjoyed success with their existing 9900s and have therefore followed up by ordering a further three, in this their 75th anniversary year.  This premium coach is becoming a familiar sight on the roads in Ireland and popular with operators, so it is good to see how it is becoming an important and integral part of the Irish tourist industry while providing the best in passenger comfort and experience.”

Established in 1945, Bernard Kavanagh & Sons Ltd is Ireland’s largest private coach tour provider, operating its fleet from Urlingford and offering luxury modern coaches for touring and international contracts.
