Volvo Bus has appointed Simon Woolacott as Regional Account Manager for the South.

Simon has extensive experience, having worked on-and-off throughout the coach and bus industry since he was 19 years old, starting out as an apprentice fitter at a garage. As he realised his passion for driving and wanted to enhance his experience in this area, he quickly gained his PSV license.

Following this, Simon pursued a full-time career in driving, touring the UK and Europe for more than 10 years. Since then, he has worked diligently in operations, aftersales and warranty care.

More recently, Simon worked as an Area Sales Manager for four years, which gave him the crucial specialist skills and experience required for his new role with Volvo Bus. Add this to his other wide range of coaching experience, Simon was a great fit for the job, which will see him take leadership over sales in the south from colleague and National Account Manager, Richard Mann.

Simon said: “I’m really excited to get back out and about and meet with some old clients of mine, as well as new ones. I’m very much a people person, so to finally be able to meet people face-to-face is a real bonus. I know operators have found it hard communicating virtually, so it’s great to now have that opportunity to consolidate those relationships in person.”

Simon also shared he is particularly excited to work with Volvo Bus’s latest addition, the 9700.

He said: “The 9700 is a fantastic, premium-quality model. It is extremely versatile and is PSVAR equipped. Volvo Bus has been at the forefront of the industry for a long time, ensuring there is adequate provision of disabled access. It’s great as well that we already have stock of these vehicles, so we can deliver them as quickly and efficiently as possible.

“I’m really proud to be working for a brand that puts its customers first. It’s one of the many reasons I was drawn to Volvo. There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with managing the south; however, I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in.”

Simon continues: “Volvo Bus has a really strong team of Regional Account Managers. They’ve all been extremely supportive, which has made my transition into the business a lot easier. From what I have experienced so far, it can only be onwards and upwards.”

Volvo Bus’s Sales Manager, Dave Porter said: “We’re delighted to have Simon on-board. He has a great range of industry experience, which is proving invaluable. He’s already settled in superbly with the rest of the team and I’m confident that he will make a truly positive impact in the south and establish some strong relationships, which will drive our growth.”
