Built on the established and highly successful Volvo B11R, the all-new Volvo 9700 is the latest addition to the already established and impressive fleet for McGill’s and represents their first venture into luxurious but practical long haul coach travel.
PSVAR compliant and fully accessible for all passengers, the 9700 enjoys all of the features you would expect from a Volvo coach and make an impressive statement on the road.
McGill’s prides itself on high quality services, fleet investment and innovation and has significantly increased its presence in the coach travel market and identified this as an area of future growth.
These new Volvo 9700 coaches will support McGill’s exciting first exploration into long distance coach travel in partnership with Flixbus, who are significantly expanding the amount of routes they cover across the UK with the help of regional coach partners.
Already a dominant influence in the service bus sector, McGill’s runs more than 600 buses on 130 routes across Scotland, and continues to recognise the importance for continual investment in the business while striving to provide a public transport network that is modern, efficient and integrated with other modes.
“The two key factors in this purchase for us were the Volvo dealer network and the quality of the new 9700 product,” says Russell Henderson at McGill’s. “It’s a compelling package! The 9700 caught our attention right from its launch and we’re very happy to take delivery of the vehicles. We have already had some good positive feedback from customers and drivers and they are now a key part of our fleet, currently running between Glasgow and London on long distance work.
“It was a pleasure dealing with our new Account Manager for the North & Scotland, Jennifer McGill. She was really attentive and always picked up her phone when I needed to speak to her. I look forward to dealing with her and Volvo again in the future.”
Having recently joined Volvo Bus in May of this year, Jennifer McGill was delighted to make the sale: “As a fairly recent member of the Volvo Bus team, to create this partnership with the prestigious and respected bus operator, McGill’s was a real achievement. Further adding to this significant deal is the fact it’s the first UK sale of our new 9700 fully integral luxury coach, so it marks a pivotal moment for the whole team at Volvo Bus.
“We are more than thrilled that McGill’s have chosen the 9700 to add to their already remarkable fleet as we remain fully committed to helping them deliver an unrivalled and first-class service to their valued customers who make over three quarters of a million journeys each week.
“Volvo is renowned for both its outstanding quality vehicles and superlative customer experience. With our back-up and support at Cardonald and throughout the Volvo UK network, we will be able to offer McGill’s the reassurance and peace of mind they need to continue to grow their partnership with us.”
Ralph Roberts, the CEO of McGill’s Group said, “the last time I operated high quality long haul coaches between Scotland, London and Europe, it was exclusively on Volvo chassis. That was a very successful experience and I look forward to this being the same.”
The new 9700 forms part of what Volvo Buses described as the biggest revision of its European coach range in recent history and serves to demonstrate the organisation’s commitment to the market.
