Although the business has previously bought new vehicles from Volvo, this latest acquisition is its first new Volvo purchase for a number of years as bookings for coach holidays now increase, particularly for UK excursions.
Jonathan Ede, managing director at Roselyn Coaches, said: “We’ve bought Volvo coaches in the past but this is the first time we’ve purchased a new Volvo for a while.
“We’re passionate about coach travel and have a renewed optimism that customers are quickly returning for day trips, sight-seeing excursions and longer trips.
“In fact, we’re at the busiest we’ve been for a long time, which is surely a good sign for the future.
“On a personal level, it was great to work with Simon Woolacott from Volvo, with whom we’ve enjoyed a long-lasting and positive relationship.”
The 57-seat vehicle itself, which will mainly be used for tour work in the UK and in Europe, includes a centre toilet, USB ports and a water boiler for hot drinks so passengers can travel with refreshments close to hand.
Feedback from the driver has been good and although currently without any livery it is expected the B8R will soon be adorned with special paintwork to celebrate Roselyn’s 75th anniversary.
