The two Volvo 9700 coaches join a 35-strong fleet and will help to collectively transport more than 180,000 customers either to or from the firm’s growing portfolio of 12 hotels which span 10 popular resort destinations across England and Wales.
Commenting on the deliveries, Richard Moon, Transport Manager at Daish’s Holidays says: “Volvo Buses offered very competitive lead times compared to other manufacturers and could supply precisely the product we required and in the perfect specification.
“As a way of reward for long service, the vehicles have been allocated to two of our longest serving drivers, who are both avid Volvo fans. They’ve been quick to remark on how impressed they are with the latest generation product.”
Both 9700s are powered by Volvo’s fuel-efficient Euro-6 D11K engine, producing up to 430 hp and a peak torque of 2,050 Nm, helping to reduce running costs and CO2 emissions. This is paired with Volvo’s proven 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission, which combines smooth and precise gearshifts with high average speeds and outstanding driveability.
Moon adds: “The new Volvos are being used to collect customers from local pick-up points and transport them in style to our hotels – clocking-up between 80,000 and 100,000 km a year. Key to our operation is ensuring maximum uptime, and having access to the Volvo Buses dealer network gives us the peace of mind that we’re never far from manufacturer-backed support, no matter where our vehicles may be.”
The two new PSVAR-compliant coaches provide generous accommodation for up to 53 passengers, with Volvo coach line seats offering superior ergonomics and comfort, with handy USB charging points, adjustable footrests and headrests. For added convenience there’s also a centre mounted toilet, servery area and spacious on-board luggage racks.
Adding to the specification is a series of advanced safety features, including Volvo Dynamic Steering, which increases stability at higher speeds and results in less strain on the driver’s neck and shoulders. When driving at low speeds, it reduces wheel inertia by around 75 per cent, making reversing much easier.
The two new vehicles are expected to remain in service with Daish’s Holidays for at least the next five years and have been supplied through Volvo Financial Services.
Founded in 1979, Daish’s Holidays is a family-owned company which operates its fleet along 18 different pick-up routes around England, servicing award-winning properties in Blackpool, Bournemouth, Eastbourne, Isle of Wight, Kendall, Llandudno, Newquay, Scarborough, Torquay and Weymouth.
